The idea is simple. You are a magic mushroom assigned to collect green gems from a set amount of 30 dungeon style areas.Players are encouraged to plan ahead carefully and use all their mental prowess to progress through each puzzle area that becomes more complex, the further you get.
Mr. Mushroom is required to move crates in order to access areas that make it reachable to get the green gems. Gaps can mean certain death, so a crate in the gap can allow our fungi friend to cross safely. Levels with masses of crates, will need “picture slide puzzle” logic in order to move without getting blocked in,and further levels yield weak bridges over the gaps that can only be crossed over once. Locks and keys, means that careful movement and planning is needed in order to access the key, then open the lock, so you can pass by it.
Overall, that’s about as much as it gets. It’s standard formula that may appeal to gamers but basic gameplay can make a lot of people tire quickly and easily. There is not much here that moves it up from being just a mobile game on a Switch. OK its defined as “Retro” but that doesn’t excuse it from being a barebones puzzler when Nintendos handheld really deserves something so much better!
Like growing mushrooms. This is best left in the dark…
